Canada’s New Prime Minister Issues Scathing Message To Donald Trump Moments After Being Elected

Canada’s new prime minister Mark Carney has issued a scathing message to Donald Trump only moments after being elected.

The 60-year-old took over from former pm, Justin Trudeau, last month after he announced his decision to step down.

Speaking to his supporters on April 29 in Ottawa, he said: “Humility is also about recognizing that one of the responsibilities of government is to prepare for the worst, not hope for the best.

“As I’ve been warning for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country – never.

“But these are not these are not idle threats, President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us – that will never, that will never ever happen. But we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed.”

This announcement follows Trump’s aim of turning Canada into the 51st state of the US – giving Trudeau the nickname ‘Governor of Canada’.

POTUS has signed off on ‘catastrophic’ tariffs for Canada, Mexico and China in an attempt to hold the countries ‘accountable’ for what he claims is a failure to ‘halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US’.

Any goods imported have had a 25% tariff tacked on and Canadian energy products have had an additional 10%.

Trump then claimed the only way to avoid the tariffs would be for Canada to become the 51st state of the US.

Taking to his own social platform, Truth Social, Trump penned: “Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a retaliatory tariff on the U.S., our reciprocal tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!”

In response, Trudeau said: “Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, their closest friend. At the same time, they are talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin, a lying, murderous dictator. Make that make sense,”

“I want to speak directly to one specific American, Donald.

“It’s not in my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal, but Donald, they point out that even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.”

He continued: “That is never going to happen. We will never be the 51st state.

“This is a time to hit back hard and to demonstrate that a fight with Canada will have no winners.”

The tariffs come from Trump claiming that Canada has a ‘growing production of fentanyl’ – a drug that killed ‘9.8 million Americans’ last year, that they are allegedly sneaking it into the US.

Trudeau argued back that ‘less than one percent of the fentanyl intercepted at the US border comes from Canada’.
